September 20th, 2012 | Garden Party + Flower Crown Making (image heavy)

This was the perfect way to end summer. We had a lovely little garden party, sipped some iced-tea cocktails (staring DavidsTea – luscious watermelon/sparkling white wine and green tea/sparkling white wine), good food, good tunes and we even made some flower crowns. I’m so lucky to be able to call these ladies my friends, and to be able to work with them as well. I really don’t have much to say about this post… I think the pictures tell the story just fine :).

June 1st, 2012 | LIFE UPDATE: May & Blog Podium

Aloha everyone! A lot has happened in the past month or so and I thought a quick little update was in order considering it’s now June. First, on a more personal note in May I started an internship at an international fashion PR agency. It’s been going well so far & is super exciting but the commute plus working on-top of it is pretty tiring, hence why I haven’t had much time to blog.

Also in may, was Blog Podium! I had met some of the girls before but it was nice to finally get to meet everyone in person. It was crazy weird how it felt like we all knew each other for years & meeting up was no big deal. I had a great time at the event, and would definitely go again. I learned a few new tricks, got to chat with some great companies and most of all spent the day with some seriously awesome ladies. After the event we went out for dinner & some for more drinks after. (Thanks to Holly for the above photo!)

You can see more photos here and here. If you want to hear more about the event check out the blogs of the lovely ladies I got to spend the day with for their posts:

Elycia (&  hubby, Ivan) from love elycia
Chantilly from my girl thursday
Mel from smiles from mel

And last but not least… June is also going to be a big month for me in the blogsphere! I have three totally awesome giveaways for this month, and will be posting two of them this week. I’m also going to be starting a mini-blog series. I gave the blog a little make over too, but I’m not sure if I like it or not so that may be changing.  Also I still have some spots left for June sponsors so email me if you’re interested. Happy June everyone! :)

June 29th, 2011 | Father’s Day 2011: Hamilton Air Show

Hahah I wasn’t kidding when I said we’re a family of photographers. We all had camera’s strapped around our necks (mine was obv taking this photo)

For Father’s day, we did the same thing we have done every year as far back as I can remember… go to the Air Show!!! I grew up going to them, and I love them! This year, we went to the Hamilton Air Show. It was it’s first time running in 10 years and was the one we went to most as kids. It made it a little more special because this was the one that we always went to as children with my dad. Amongst our favourite, as always, they had the Lancaster and Spitfire flying. Pictures!!

WWI Planes

I loveee the pin-up artwork on some of the planes. The “Memphis Belle” was the one that was used in the actual movie (The real one is still undergoing restoration) You can learn more about the Memphis Belle here, it’s really interesting!

The planes above are the North American Harvards, Douglas AD-4 Skyraider, Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (Memphis Belle) and the North American B-25J Mitchell (Hot Gen)

The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association & Aerobatic Team

Nanchang CJ-6A, Flown by Daniel Fortin. This guy was crazy! So many cool tricks!
Hope everyone had a great Father’s Day!! & also….

May 27th, 2011 | The Sketchbook Project 2012

(photo via: http://katenyland.blogspot.com/)

So, last year I signed up for the 2011 project. I won’t lie, I didn’t finish my book in time and wasn’t happy with what I had done to send it in. It was still fun though, so I don’t consider it a waste of money.

This year, I thought I’d give it a second go. I was a little hesitant at first but the tour is coming to Canada this year and making a stop in Toronto. Last year all the locations for the tour were only in the states. I made a rule I’m going to actually schedule time once a week to sit down with my book and work on it.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Sketchbook Project, it’s basically a concert tour. But with sketchbooks. Anyone can sign up, (it costs 25$) and fill their sketchbook with your creative goodies. When it’s completed, you send it back (no later than January 31st) and it makes it’s way around the world with hundreds of other sketchbooks to museums & libraries!

However won’t ever get it back, it’s final resting place is the Brooklyn Library of Art. You can opt to pay an extra 20$ for your book to be digitally displayed in the online exhibit. (Or you could just, yknow scan it yourself..) The theme I picked this year was “Fill me with stories”. Wish me luck!

The sketchbook I never finished ;(

May 11th, 2011 | A Breakfast Fit for Royalty!

Like many others, my grandmother, mom, sister and I all got up at 5:30am, to watch the Royal wedding. After watching the ceremony we went the extra mile and had a British themed high tea for breakfast… tiaras and all! My sister bought the tiara’s from the dollar store and decorated them to resemble the British flag. She also made these adorable pearl bracelets.

Normally I’m not much of  a morning person, but surprisingly we all weren’t that tired. Here we all are, not too bad for just waking up! My mom and grandmother had gold crowns (for ‘queen’) and my sister and I had the silver ones (for ‘princess’).

For the tea we had scones, fresh strawberries, sugar syrup oranges, and home-made devonshire cream & lemon butter. We tea that came straight from London itself –  my English Breakfast Tea that my sister brought home from me on her recent trip to Europe.

Here is what the table looked like! So festive!! Overall it was really fun, despite having to wake up so early! We decided that breakfast teas are something that we as a family need to do more often.. just not so early next time. It was surprisingly really filling, and really enjoyable.

My favourite part about the wedding itself was easily the fashion, from Kate’s and Pippa’s gorgeous Alexander McQueen dresses, to the wacky and tacky hats! If you woke up for it, how did you spend your royal morning and what were your favourite moments? More pictures below! (Some were taken by my sister and mom, some me, but they were all too good to not share with you!)
