Treasury via Etsy: For Jill

I’ve always loved creating treasuries on Etsy, so I’ve decided to try out a new feature on the blog and share them on here.  I use treasuries a lot too when I’m looking for gifts. They’re  a great tool.

This set is a pair of gift guides for him and her, hence the name Jack & Jill. While these two treasuries are completely different, I tried to keep them both ‘natural’ feeling. I totally want some of the things I listed on both of them. (Breakfast at Tiffany’s sleep mask? Um, yes please!)

I’m curious – do any of you use and/or create treasuries? Do you find them helpful? Are you into this post and would you want to see more treasuries pop up on here? Let me know! I’ll try it out for a little while at the very least :).

P.S. – Who’s done there Christmas shopping? I finished mine today and I have to say it feels GREAT to be done!

November 7th, 2013 | The Craft Room

Do you ever take a look through your draft folder, and realize that you have so many hidden & unpublished blog posts that you never finished? Yeah well I just did hah! And this was one of them! I can’t believe I actually started this one towards the end of  last November! Yikes!! So I’ve started to sort through them, and will slowly be putting them up in between recent posts. A new twist on throw back thursday, huh? ;)

My craft space is a little different since these photos were taken since so much time has passed. I’ve moved a few items into my room, (ones that it was never my intention to keep in  this space to begin with and new things have appeared.) so I may do an updated version in a few month. The room used to be my sister’s bedroom before she moved out, so  since it doesn’t have any furniture in it really it’s become the perfect craft space and photography studio for my mom’s pet photography. She picked this colour when it was still her bedroom and its been it since day one and I still absolutely love it to this day!

Anyways, I just thought I’d share my little creative space with you guys. I always love seeing other blogger’s post their creative areas. It’s weird how sometimes seeing someone else’s craft space can inspire you to get crafting. Or is that just me hah!

September 18th, 2013 | Party Like It’s 1922 (image heavy)

At the end of last summer, we had a flower crown DIY garden party. It was the perfect way to end summer and start the transition into fall and has become a tradition for us. For this year’s theme we decided we wanted a theme that involve costumes for those who wanted to dress up and went with none other than the 20s!  We picked this theme solely due to the costumes and visuals in Baz Lurhmann’s The Great Gatsby film of this summer. (We just needed to be flappers for a night, alright?!) We had a photo booth, blackberry lemonade sangria, so much delicious food, made flapper headbands and of course was in the best company! Basically, it was awesome. I’m truly blessed to be able to work with the most amazing people and call them my friends. I think this is easily the most photos I’ve ever posted in one post. (Sorry not sorry.)

(Also if you’re wondering where that amazing diamond pinata is from it’s  Prospect Goods!)

August 12th, 2013 | Bathroom Reno

Paint: Flapper’s Fringe c/o Para Paints
Shower curtain: Pottery Barn via eBay
Shower curtain rings: target
Shelves: Homesense, repainted
Mirror: Antique, repainted
Mason jars: vintage
Misc decor: Target, Chapters, Antique Stores

I know, this post is really image heavy (sorry not sorry). But I love my new bathroom. It’s been fully decorated for maybe about a month or two now (I know, bad blogger here) and it just makes me so happy every day. I’m thrilled with how it turned out and am so glad I waited until I had every little detail bought and planned out before I actually put it all together. I’m doing the same for my room, it just made it so much nicer to be able to paint it and set everything up then have it completely done.

I’m pretty proud of the outcome, especially the mirror. I found it at an antique store in Toronto about a year ago and got a wicked deal on it because it had a tiny chip in the corner. It originally had a solid gold finish but I chose to paint over it and distress it.

I feel like the colour is such an unusual colour choice for me too but I’m so happy I went with something different. I’m a smitten kitten with my bathroom hah! Oh, and lets just take moment to appreciate my tea light night light. Best. Find. Ever. Okay I’m done swooning over my bathroom now.

July 10th, 2013 | Watermelons! What on earth do you do with it all?!

One of my favourite things about summer is watermelon. Seriously, I love it. But have you ever noticed that no matter how small of a melon you get there’s always too much to eat?! Watermelon salad has always been one of my favourites but all the leftover watermelon in my fridge had me searching the interent for some yummy recipes to use up the rest of it so I thought I’d share some of my favourite finds a long with my fav summer salad!

1. Watermelon Agua Fresca – refreshing for a hot summer’s day
2. Strawberry Watermelon Yogurt Ice Pops – I love this one because since it’s frozen, it’ll last a while!
3. Watermelon & Froyo Cupcakes – This one is brilliant for a healthier desert.
4. Watermelon Salsa – Great on hotdogs, tacos, as a dip you name it
5. Watermelon Sangria – What would this list be without a boozy option?! Just make this and add your fav bottle of wine to it!

Watermelon Feta & Berry Salad

• Watermelon, cubed
• Feta cheese
• Blackberries
• Avocado slices
• Mint leaves

1. Chop it all up and toss it in a bowl! Easy as pie!

What do you do with all your watermelon?! If you have a great recipe feel free to share it in the comments! :)
